Community Service Opportunities

There are a number of rewarding ways to serve the community, to serve God, or to help you develop new interests through our ministries.

Peter's Pantry is a growing ministry of Bethel, serving residents of Gloucester County who struggle with food insecurity. Open on the fourth Saturday of each month, volunteers have opportunities to greet and register guests, maintain the refreshment table, bag groceries, carry groceries, and shelve food deliveries.

Family Promise Interfaith Hospitality Network of Gloucester County is a ministry we share with several other faith communities in Gloucester County, to address the underlying causes of homelessness. Four or five times a year, we host a maximum of fourteen guests overnight for a week. Volunteers have opportunites to: set up and take down sleeping cubicles, provide evening meals, supply lunch and breakfast items, be a listening ear or a welcoming presence, lend a hand with homework, share in fun and fellowship, transport guests to the Day Center, and launder bed linens.

People interested in volunteering at the Pantry or for our Family Promise host weeks should contact the church to obtain a volunteer application.

In-house opportunities:

The Worship Team consists of Lay Readers for Sunday morning worship, Media Techs, Ushers, and Acolytes. There is something for every age level. We consider it a blessing to have children and youth participating on the Worship Team.

Chancel Choir and Praise Team, alternate Sundays. The Choir sings on the first, second, and fourth Sundays; the Praise Team sings on the third Sunday of each month.

Greeters help us extend our hospitality to visitors each week. If you're a "people person" this may be fulfilling for you!

Seasonal Outreach - Help assemble Christmas gift bags or "Spring Cleaning" baskets for families in need. Assemble and deliver "Thank You" baskets to emergency services personnell in our township. Serve cold water bottles to sports teams at the parks.
